Holy shitballs Batshmuck, Peabody is releasing its very first vinyl release! Yes that’s right, my funny little hermaphrodites, a split 7-inch single (with Sydney pals ‘Machine Machine’) will be released on 26 November on Peabrain Recordings & Understandation Records.

To celebrate this piece of shitstory the Peas are undertaking a short whistle-stop tour, much in the vein of B.Obama. You can bet security will be tight and budgets will be tighter. We may kiss.

It’s an ode to the pub we will next be gracing with our charm and wit with. The gig is on the 12th day of the 11th month which I think is pretty eerie….ok, so maybe it’s not that eerie, but it’s a pretty big coincidence. Alright, so maybe coincidence is not really apt but you must admit OH FORGET IT! Fine. Don’t come then.

Stay at home and make fucking vegetarian sausage rolls for the engagement party or the bar-mitzvah, see if I care……oh PLEASE come! Yes? I’ll be happy and good and not bring up the awkward. Is this awkward? I don’t even know your name and it’s too late for introductions. Shit. I always get this wrong. This is what mother was talking about.

Oh, the gig…the freakin’ awesome Betty Airs will also be on the bill (these guys will totally make you happy and horny) as well as Go/No Go & New Brutalists.

And it just so happens that Peabody will be the thorn in the side of the Rose of Australia, in Erskineville – a suburb known for its increasing real estate prices and yuppification. But damn it, the Rose is keeping it real so help them keep live music going and help us get paid – we get a cut of the bar*.

Here I sit at the desk of doom, where I normally do pornographic things like my uni work and tax return. But not today – no siree bob. Today I take control of this recalcitrant desk and I do whatever I want. It’s not the boss of me. Look desk, I’m gonna put a beer on you, then I’m gonna drink that beer and now I’m gonna burn you at the stake, like Jeanne d’Arc, and I’ll laugh and point as your walkman and hearing aid melt in this bureau-inferno. Oops, now I have nowhere to place my laptop in order to write the following words: help; dissident; burgeoning; calculator; Tonga.

Pushers and pullers alike, be confused, be alert and be alarmed, for the pitter-patter of proletariat prosperity shall perish in the tiny hands of freedom!!!! Ahhh coffee… we fight, but I always return.

Pick the black, setcha back, pick the red, get ahead….that’s gamblin’ talk you idiot! Why am I talking gamblin’ talk? Cos I’s a gambler now. In fact, all members of Peabody will enter the mythical, magical and expensive world of professional gambling when we double-up our chances of becoming rich and famous at Star City Casino on Wednesday 6 July. The Rock Lily is the actual name of the bar we’ll be playing in, but it’s in the luxurious surrounds of Sydney’s famous money-pit. Personally, I think it’s about time we played to our genuine target audience.

The Holy Soul and Royal Chant are the other bands on the bill. This makes us pretty happy. But not as happy as this video of Jared gambling away his house. This could be you after the show!

Thanks to Tom for making the cool poster (below the video). I don’t care what anyone else says, I reckon he’s alright.

Hi there.

Welcome to your life. Pretty good, huh? Ok, so with formalities out of the way, let me tell you about this giglette. It’s not often we play at a venue in Sydney that has been previously untarnished by our corrupted souls/soles, but this is exactly what will happen on Thursday 24 March when we raise high the roofbeam at Tone Nightclub (I don’t think we’ve ever played at a ‘nightclub’ before either). Tone is a new venue found at 16 Wentworth Ave, Surry Hills.

What with Justin Hemmes buying the Excelsior Hotel, you can be assured Surry Hills will soon become some sort of seething haven for cashed up bar-hoppers and reality TV show contestants. It will, in effect, become like a cross between Paddington and….Surry Hills. So come along and bask in what remains of Surry Hills civility. The set will be filmed and aired on the Neon Hearts website.

There will be some Melbourne, Canberra and Newcastle dates announced soon.

Peabody and the Go Roll Your Bones will be playing at Spectrum on Friday 28 January. With Spectrum going through some renovations, the gig will actually take place at 34B (same building as Spectrum), so you’ll have to walk in through the Q-Bar.
